History

The Seattle Show was conceived in 1997 by Fred Hammerquist, Larry Asher and Tracy Wong. Their goal was to honor the best work created in Seattle, show local clients that national-caliber work is being created right here and help the best agencies and firms recruit top people. Having a reason to throw a party was a nice side benefit. The first show took place in 1998.

More than 750 entries are judged by a top panel of creatives brought in from outside the market. Selected entries are awarded Silver, Gold or the highly coveted Best of Show. In addition to recognizing outstanding work, a Legacy Award is presented to honor an individual (or two) who has made a substantial contribution to the Seattle creative community over the course of a career. Past recipients include: Pat Hansen, Jack Anderson & John Hornall, Art Chantry, John Kelly, Terry Heckler, John Van Dyke and Hal Newsom.

The 2009 Seattle Show is presented by Olympus Press in association with AIGA Seattle.
